LOSC – ESTAC Troyes

David is Lille‘s 10-goal top scorer this season, with only Paris Saint-Germain pair Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr and FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi ahead of him league-wide, and he has reportedly been attracting interest from the Premier League this winter.
But the Canadian has only scored one league goal in the recent five-game winless run – the opener in the 1-1 draw with Stade de Reims in Round 17 – and he was understandably upset after Wednesday’s goalless share of the spoils at Stade Brestois 29.
“It’s a very frustrating result,” he said. “We didn’t find the goals we were looking to score. I don’t think we created as many chances as we could have but Brest made it difficult for us. They were playing with a low block from the first minute to the last.”
Lille would be fourth if they had turned their last three draws into wins, but as it stands they are seventh, six places and 13 points better off than Sunday’s visitors.

They also welcome Troyes to their Stade Pierre-Mauroy with a host of first-team regulars missing. Captain José Fonte, midfielder Jonas Martin and left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson are all struggling with groin complaints, while winger Jonathan Bamba has a calf injury.
Leny Yoro, 17, could get the nod alongside Tiago Djalo at centre-back once again in Fonte’s absence, while his right-back Bafodé Diakité is – like Fonte – one booking away from a suspension.
Troyes won the last Ligue 1 Uber Eats meeting between these sides 3-0 when they met last May, but Lille got a measure of revenge in the Coupe de France Round of 64 just last Sunday, with David and Mohamed Bayo on target in a 2-0 win.
It was the first defeat of Troyes’ Patrick Kisnorbo era, and the Australian suffered another on Wednesday, going down 2-0 to high-flying Olympique de Marseille.

Troyes hade picked up four of a possible six points since Kisnorbo succeeded Bruno Irles as manager, though, and the former Melbourne City head coach was philosophical after the latest reverse.
“Marseille are a great team that play good football,” he reflected. “We still have a long way to go to a higher level, but since my arrival, I’m already very proud of the evolution.
“All the teams are strong in this Ligue 1 championship. I’m still new here and we’re getting there little by little. There’s still a lot to improve, especially on the way we want to play.”
Karim Azamoum remains Troyes’ only injury concern with a ruptured cruciate ligament, although his place in the side might have been Rony Lopes’s anyway. Mama Baldé is back in the mix after suspension, although Kisnorbo has used the striker on the left flank since taking charge.
