Armed bandits reportedly attacked Dangunu village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, killing one person and kidnapping 21 others on Saturday night.
The gunmen arrived by boat through the river between Chikun and the town. Among those abducted was Ahmadu Adamu and 16 members of his family.
The attackers beat Ahmadu Adamu to death, and his body was left at the river bank for his family. A pregnant woman, released by the bandits due to her condition, informed others about the incident.
The motive behind the attack is suspected to be connected to informants, as most farmers in the area have completed harvesting their crops.
Efforts to reach local authorities and the police for comments were unsuccessful.
