Troops eliminate Zamfara terrorist leader, rescue 20 kidnap victims

Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have neutralized a notorious terrorist leader, identified as Sainaje from Katsina State and rescued 20 kidnap victims in separate operations conducted in Zamfara State.

Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the Information Officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, released a statement on Tuesday, providing details of the successful mission on the Nigerian Army X account.

“The Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji troops have recorded another success against the terrorists in continuation with the dry season clearance operations in its areas of responsibility in Zamfara State.

“In the recent success, the troops rescued 20 kidnap victims unhurt and neutralised two terrorists, including a notorious terrorists’ leader identified as Sainaje from Katsina State, which led to the rescue of 18 kidnap victims comprising four males and 14 females as well as children.” The statement read.

The operations, conducted on the 29th of January 2024, targeted terrorists’ enclaves at Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare, and Shamushalle general areas of Zurmi and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

Ibrahim stated that during the operation, all the discovered terrorists’ enclaves, including that of a notorious terrorist kingpin identified as Sule, were destroyed as the terrorists fled their camps during heavy contact with the aggressive troops.

He further stated that in a separate incident, troops successfully rescued two victims who were abducted by the terrorists along Shinkafi-Isa Road in Zamfara State.

The captors abandoned their victims during a gun duel with the highly motivated troops, whose swift response led to the successful rescue.

All rescued victims are said to have been handed over to the appropriate authorities to facilitate their reunion with their respective families.
