The arrests occurred on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Jalingo Main Motor Park, where the suspects were caught attempting to transport sixteen victims, aged between ten and sixteen, to Benin, Edo State.

The victims, consisting of five females and eleven males from Zing and Bali Local Government Areas, fell prey to promises of a better future in Edo State.

Preliminary investigations by the state commandant, Adamu Salihu, revealed that the arrested individuals are part of a larger syndicate specializing in trafficking underage children.

The victims, once lured with false promises, are subjected to degrading menial jobs, and the proceeds are confiscated.

Expressing concern over the rising trend, Salihu questioned the logic of parents entrusting their children’s care to strangers, leading to potential harm and exposure to dangers.

He highlighted the fate trafficked children often face, including child labor, prostitution, involvement in baby factories, organ harvesting, and money rituals.
