A 55-year-old man, Yau Ibrahim, from Kundu village, Rafi LGA, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Minna, Niger State, for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl and infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease.
The court heard that on August 3, 2023, Yau Ibrahim lured the girl into his room, causing severe injuries and bleeding.
The judgment, delivered on January 9, 2024, considered the convict’s confession, the victim’s medical report, and witness accounts.
Despite Yau Ibrahim admitting his offense, the judge emphasized the severity of the crime and the victim’s health condition in imposing the life sentence under the Niger State Child Rights Law 2021 as Amended.
